Character Basics
Character name: Trance Gemini
Character Journal: heartofasun
Canon: Andromeda
Canon Point: Pitiless as the Sun, S2 E 4
Age: Looks around early twenties. Actually about 5-7 billion years old. Her essence is probably older as her people are part of the cycle of creation and destruction, destroyed and remade with each 'big bang'.

Canon Character Information
Appearance:
Trance has several different aspects or versions of herself. Her form represents her place in the universe, as well as the universes effect on her and her on the universe. She is currently in her Purple Pixie aspect.

Trance is usually wearing a one piece black cat suit. Her skin is a lavender purple hue and glitters in the light. She has short pixie cut blond hair. She has what looks like a tattoo or mark on her shoulder in the shape of a sun with the mask of comedy.  Trance also has a prehensile tail with a spade at the end, giving her a 'devil' type of appearance.

She can use her eyes to show a glimpse of her true self, revealing  the cosmos, the image of planets circling a sun or solar plasma.

History:

To really understand Trance, you need some background.  We need to go back to the beginning.  Way back, like In The Beginning, beginning. Once Upon a Time there was energy and matter and everything was tightly wound together. At some point, two factions grew, one was Love. But it wasn't happy, accepting love. It was obsessive, stalker love. The kind of love that makes people do horrible things. Love wanted everything to stay right where it was. Keep things the same. The other faction was boredom. They wanted to go and expand, do something different. Make things bright, create explosions. Create. They called themselves Lightbringers, or Lucifers, and the two sides fought.  The Lucifers won, and created the Big Bang with their War in Heaven. The Lucifers became true to their title, suns and stars. Love became the Abyss, wanting to return everything the way it was. The cycle of expansion and destruction began, over and over. Each time, the Lucifers won the war in Heaven, but Love would catch up, contracting matter and energy into that tightly wound ball again.

And the cycle would begin again.

Then, one cycle, Love did something unforeseen. It cheated, and tried to get the end to come sooner than it should have. It wanted the cycle to stop so it could keep everyone together. Forever. This is where Trance comes in. She's really grown to love the organics she's spent time with and doesn't want her fun to end.

Now for Trance's history:

Trance, as her current self, was born in a supernova billions of years ago, during her current cycle creation and destruction. She’s the Celestial Avatar of the Tarn Vedra sun.  As she is probably an orange dwarf star with a life span of 30 billion, she’s still pretty young). Most of what she did for billions of years is unknown. What is known is that she had temples on Tarn Vedra, the capital of the old Commonwealth. She was the Commonwealth, a democratic federation of over 1 million member worlds, and her sun probably influenced the creation of the Vedrans, the ones responsible for many of the formation of the Commonwealth and all that's good in the universe.

At some point in time she ran away from her home, the Lambet Kith Nebula, after she didn’t agree with their decision to let the Abyss, or Love, win. The Commonwealth fell.  She left, biding her time and subtly influencing events until she could be with the right people at the right time that might be able to combat the Abyss and save everyone’s lives. Maybe. Seeing the future is hard, especially for one so young.

For a long time she stole, thieved and pick pocketed. A lot. It was all part of her plan, as this was how she met Beka Valentine, and some of the other members of the Andromeda crew. A spot in Beka' Valentine's crew tragically 'opened up' after Vex Pag's pressure suit tore and his emergency seal didn't engage. For a year and a half, she played at being an innocent young girl, from an unknown species, who wouldn’t harm a fly and was just very good with plants.

One specific episode I should mention happens very early on in the series, Angel Dark, Demon Bright, 1x06. Trance, playing at being the innocent, kind of clumsy girl who has no idea how to use the slipstream to navigate the ship at high warp like speeds, gets a lesson. She accidentally on purpose travels them back in time 300 years to the location of a key battle between the Commonwealth, and the Nietzschean uprising. There she forces Dylan Hunt, Captain of the Andromeda Ascendant, to kill 100,000 Nietzscheans in order to preserve history.

Right before she arrives in Medietas (Pitiless as the Sun 2x04), Trance is 'lured' accidentally on purpose by a race of aliens hoping to help them get over their xenophobia. Instead, they lock her up and try to torture her and figure out what makes her tick. Turns out another solar avatar, years before, showed up on their planet. He was just like her, childlike, innocent. Quickly the tables turned and by the time they realized what had happened, the civil war this guy started had killed half their population and destroyed their economy.  Now they want revenge, and to arm themselves better. Unfortunately, Trance, like her predecessor, quickly turns the tables. This episode peels back the layers of masks that Trance wears to show one truly horrifying aspect of her personality, and potentially those of her species. When she gets back to the ship she makes nice with Dylan Hunt and pretends nothing happened. The masks we wear....

Professor Logitech: Our oldest spiritual texts say that chaos is just another manifestation of evil.
Trance: Are you implying that I'm some sort of...devil?

Note: Shortly after the episode Trance is taken from, she 'accidentally on purpose' gets her tail shot off, to avoid being recognized as a Sun Avatar/Lucifer, which is what happened in Pitiless as the Sun 2x04.

[Post canon point: Horned Trance] I'm including her other aspects as I'm planning on doing several canon updates so she goes through the cycle.

Then something bad happened. Space time ripped in half and a future version of Trance showed up, switching places with her other self. This Trance was harder, stronger, and her appearance had changed. Gone were her previous purple skin and prehensile tail. Instead her skin was a harsh mixture of gold, yellows and reds, horns seem to wrap around her head like a rams, she is clad in leather and generally looked more pissed off and worried. This Trance came from a Very Bad Future, where she had made mistakes, and Very Bad Things happened. Now, she was working to correct those mistakes, if she could, but she really wasn't sure how.

The crew start out not really trusting this new Trance, looking and acting so different from the rather girly, ‘harmless’ Trance they used to know. Eventually, one by one, they warm up to her, realizing that the old Trance is still in there, and she’s still the friend they once knew. Just stronger and not nearly as ‘harmless’ anymore.

Harper: ...I liked it better when I thought you were harmless!

[Golden Trance]

This Trance is gentler, the hardness and violence that had become innate parts of herself as a result of the Bad Decisions made have been swept away. Instead of her harsher colors, her skin is now a lighter gold and yellow, with rays of light decorating her body. Her horns are gone too.

A key episode here is Point of a Spear, 3x16, where another of Trance's people are keeping the Pyrians ahead of the battle between the Commonwealth, both want the planet Samsera. Dylan is ready to leave and let them have it, feeling the causality rate will be enormous. Trance makes him stay, tells him he must take Samsera by all cost, the Pyrians can't have it. Risking and causing heavy causalities to the New Commonwealth fleet, Dylan has the fleet destroy the planet rather than let the Pyrians take it. She says this shows her people that Commonwealth can in fact defeat the Abyss, as they were ready to back the Pyrians.

Event by event, Trance does her best to guide the crew to her version of the Best Possible Future, with or without their consent. Multiple times she has to rewind reality and try different solutions and options, after all or some of the crew gets killed. She becomes a confidant to Dylan Hunt, Captain of the Andromeda, who regularly asks her advice, however cryptic it may be. She’s good friends with almost everyone.
She's with them  in this form for a few more years, trying desperately to get to that Best Possible Future, the future without the Abyss, where her plan has worked and the Darkness she's afraid of has been defeated. It doesn't work. And almost everyone dies. As a last ditch effort, Trance supernovas, hoping to destroy the abyss with her sun, and tesseracts her dying crew to the hidden pocket universe where Tarn Vedra is hidden.

[Princess Trance]

This causes Trance to lose all of her memory, and her form. She's extremely weak, and spends years in her sun form until discovered by Dylan and coaxed out and helped. She feels profoundly guilty about sticking her crew here, but it was the safest and only place she could think of. Problem is? She didn't get timing right for them. Some, like Harper, ending up years before anyone else, and without Trance and her sun, it's become a desolate, hard place to live. Slowly gaining back her memories and her powers, Trance is still not and never will be the same as she was before. The hardness in her is gone, replaced by pacifism and fear, as this Trance is a blank slate. She's afraid and vulnerable and has to rely on others, a complete 180 to her previous role as guide and manipulator.

Her new role and views of organic life forms as more than just things to be manipulated for the greater good puts her at odds with the Lambet Kith Nebula, and her family, who have been corrupted by the Abyss. They hide her away, weakened and bound in the artificial sun of another, with her family hoping it will be enough to destroy her when the sun dies,  and replace her with one of their own. The Andromeda crew discover her, realizing 'Trance' is acting very strange  and rescue the real Trance, the only real light left in the universe.

Trance's real sun, hidden away in it's own pocket universe for safety, comes flooding in to the system, once Tarn Vedra, now known as Seefra. Seefra was constructed, artificial planets duplicated 9 times, as breaking systems for Trance's sun when it finally makes it's arrival, as predicted centuries ago. Unfortunatly, there are people living on those planets and as Trance's sun crashes into them, making her way to her final place orbiting the new Tarn Vedra, those planets are going to be destroyed, along with everything living on them.

Trance doesn't take this too well, and it nearly kills her as she fights her sun, and her sun's pull toward her natural orbit.  The Andromeda crew, realizing Trance and her sun are actually key to destroying the Abyss , lure the Abyss directly into her sun, destroying it and allowing her sun to resume it's natural orbit, giving Tarn Vedra a rebirth and rejoining the rest of the universe.

Personality:
Lets get one thing straight right off the bat. Trance does not talk about Trance. Pretty much ever. She won’t talk about her history, or what she is, although you have a better shot if you're something remotely like her. But regular organics/mortals? Don't get to know, unless she's completely and utterly cornered and in a life or death situation.  She can look very innocent and cute, in fact she'll play it up most likely.  Get on her bad side and that innocent persona can vanish quite  rapidly. Trance is pretty adept at using her looks to her advantage.

While Trance’s appearance changes multiple times within the series(going from purple pixie girl who kind of looks like Nightcrawler), to a harsh golden warrior to a  gentler golden innocent ‘princess’, her motivations and personality, for the most part, stays pretty constant. She's the same being but not the same embodiment of it, a little like the Doctor from Doctor Who. There are some differences between her different forms, however. Her first incarnation, which is currently being apped, is more playful and carefree, lacking the seriousness that comes with age. She enjoys the chaos of the universe in turmoil around her, even as she seeks to right it. In short, boredom is bad. Screwing with people is fun. But she also has an innocent side, something that makes her seem down right childlike. If only people knew that beneath that childlike exterior was one aspect of the devil.

Her Horned aspect has had her playfulness and joy burned out of her, the horror of what she has created through many mistakes has made her serious and blatantly manipulative. Her Golden aspect has regained some of the vulnerabilities and playfulness that she had previously lost, as she acclimates to the new universe/timeline she has found herself in. Her Princess aspect is a blank slate, with her memory of herself and what she is capable of gone, she is forced to rely on others.

Trance: I am so sick of this you two, with your violence and your threats and your shooting stuff! Neither of you gets it, do you? There isn't enough love in the universe as it is and you both are just helping to kill off whats left! So shape up! Because if you don't show each other a little peace, love and understanding, I'm going to kill you both!

Harper: Trance! You don't mean that!
Trance: I do. You know why? because I could get away with it, because I'm cute!
Trance can come off as being very sweet, almost innocent, and plays that part of her personality up. While she can be hard when she needs to be, it isn't her preferred personality. She usually believes the best in people. That being said, she’s not nice just to be nice. She’s usually nice in order to manipulate events and people and make everything go her way. She's nice to get something out of it. She does care about her friends, but she’s not above having to sacrifice them in order to achieve her goals. In fact some of her earlier manipulations in her Purple and Horned incarnations(but moreseo for her Horned one), show that while she does care, she doesn't realize the extent of which people don't like being manipulated and sometimes she comes off as being cold hearted, caring more about what will happen in the long run than who she has hurt in the present.

Dylan: Dammit Trance, we are not just pieces in your private game of Go!

Trance is extremely manipulative, but it doesn't often show. She may only give people certain pieces of information and give others the rest, setting them against each other, or keeping information to herself. When she was young, in the beginning of the series, she seemed to enjoy the chaos of this a bit, playing with peoples lives like chess pieces, almost in a sadistic sort of way.

Professor Logitch: But your shipmates... do they know what you really are?
Trance: They know as much as they need to know. That I am their friend.
Professor Logitch: But if you tell them what happened down here...
Trance : I won't, and neither will you.
Professor Logitch: So what happens to us? Are we going to be your little toys, too?
Trance: No, I'm not that bored. The universe is a mess. I've got plenty of things to keep me busy.

She is not a warrior, but she will fight if she needs to. She’d much rather be pruning and taking care of her plants than fighting(she even names her plants and treats them like people. She might like them better than people). She believes every life is precious, from a beetle to a humanoid to a star or a black hole, and everything deserves a chance to live and thrive.

Trance may very well play up the innocent act. She’s just a poor, cute little girl, who for some reason doesn't have any vitals. She’ll talk to others, and be very friendly and trusting, almost to the point of being extremely naive and innocent, keeping information she gleans hidden away until the right time. When the tables will turn. Like always, Trance will be very evasive about who or what she is. She might outright leave the room when asked, ask circular questions in return and giving non answers. Once she even lies about being created as a sex slave for some perverted guy who wanted them to bring pleasure to the universe. And then laughs sadistically about the lie.

Powers/Abilities/Talents:

Note:
I'm sure I missed some of her powers here. Trance is crazy powerful, but wont use most of her abilities since she tries to let organics handle things while she pulls the strings.

Avatar body:

As Trance is a Sun Avatar, she really can’t die unless her sun dies. Or rather, she can die. She just gets up a few minutes later, as her connection to her sun resets.

Gerentex: Aren't you supposed to be dead?
Trance: I got better.

Even though she has a humanoid form, Trance doesn't have any vital organs, she doesn't have blood and she doesn't even register any vitals of any kind. If someone were to scan her, they’d find no pulse, no brain activity, no circulatory system or anything remotely resembling life signs. However, she fakes it very well. The appearance of breathing is her mimicking life, like a chameleon tries to blend in to their background, so does she. Her body isn't technically real. It's a construct or illusion created by her sun, where her consciousness actually is.

Trance's connection to her sun is a little bit like an anchor or an ethernet cord. Unplug her, and she goes down. By that same sense, it's easy for someone or something to reach in there and disconnect her, take control of her 'body'. Doing so would snap Trance's consciousness back to her sun, and the other would be able to puppet her body. Removing the puppet would enable her to re-activate.

By that same token, her illusionary body is not subject to the same ills as a organic body would; injuries, illness, etc. would not affect her as there is nothing there to work with. She does not really need to sleep or even eat or drink. She can eat or drink, but doesn't need the sustenance.

Trance is vulnerable to anything that is capable of destroying a sun. In series there is a radioactive substance called volatarium, which is the active ingredient in Nova Bombs, which can destroy suns in that it leaves nothing left, no molecules, nothing. It causes Trance exorbitant pain to be near it. Trance maintains her external temperature at a humanoid 98.6 F. Her internal temperature is a couple million kelvins, or the internal temperature of a star's core. Trance, the Solar Avatar of Tarn Vedra, was created by her sun to traverse universes and dimensions, to influence events. Trance's own sun is currently hidden away in an interdimensional pocket universe, waiting for the right time to emerge. In series we have seen this can cross dimensions. Canonically, I don't believe there would be a problem with her connection to her sun from Medietas, as we have seen her in series in both other universes, dimensions and time lines.

Dylan: The parasites reacted differently to your body.
Trance: Yes
Dylan: Trance...are you dead or alive?
Trance: .....Yes.
 Dylan: Crystal clear as usual.

She has very quick reflexes, rather acrobatic and is a hell of a lot stronger than she looks(like Thor or Loki strong), although she plays at being weak and innocent. Her tail is prehensile and is strong enough to support her entire body weight. She can also use short knives and blades, and energy weapons.

 Time/Space/Dimension Manipulation/precognition:

Trance is also precognitive, although this ability is far from infallible and is easily misinterpreted, especially for someone so young as her. Instead of looking at one or two possibilities, she's looking at all of them, all the time. One episode, the Dark Backward, is 5 minutes of Trances mind, in which she runs through hundreds or possibly thousands of possibilities to avoid getting her crew killed, or at least what is the best possible future.

She can usually use this ability to help the crew or her friends to move them in the most favorable direction, but often this ability fails. Usually when the odds are stacked too much against them or something else is clouding her ability to see a Perfect Possible Future. The tends to work best when she has a short term goal in mind, like how to survive a specific battle or whether to go left or right, rather than a long term goal(like escape). Long term goals she has a hard time figuring out. The future is too convoluted, there are too many options to see and roads to travel. Trance has a bonsai tree which seems to help her focus her abilities, change and rework the near present to her advantage. She also uses this ability to cheat at cards and gamble and enjoys it very, very much. This makes her the perfect gambler. It's very dumb to play against her.

In regards to her precognition and ability to change futures, Trance can’t actually tell the difference between reality and a possible reality. She experiences varying futures and realities in the blink of an eye. Any point in time might not be happening, so she does her best to treat everything as if it is real--because she can’t tell what is real and what isn't.

Dylan: So you experience a million possible futures in the time it takes me to blink my eyes?
And each one of them looks, feels, sounds, smells, and tastes as real as the conversation
we're having right here right now.
                                Trance: In a word, yes.
Dylan: Well. Alright, here's my question. If that's true, if each one of those futures is indistinguishable
from each other on a quantum level... Trance, how do you know that any of this is real?
                                Trance: ....I don't.

In the series, she has been shown in different universes and time lines. As such, she can also split herself into hundreds or thousands of pieces, to investigate possibilities in different time lines. When she is split, she cannot communicate with her other 'selves'. She does this when Dylan Hunt is caught in a different time line and she is unsure which one. So she spits herself into multiple pieces to find him. She perceives space and time in a very unique way, and that allows her to navigate them and all their possibilities.

Limitations in Medietas:  Trance is currently being blocked from her ability to manipulate reality.

Tesseract:

Trance can tesseract or teleport through time and universes. It's an innate part of who she is and what she, as the Avatar of Tarn Vedra, was made to do. Obviously, she probably won’t be able to do this. Cause she’d break the game :) And that would be very, very bad.

Limitations in Medietas:
No tesseracting outside the shield/dome. If she tries she will get a wicked headache.

Celestial/Solar Avatar:

She can turn into a sun and go supernova and kill everyone in a solar system. However, this ability is limited by the fact that it leaves her VERY drained and gives her very bad case of amnesia. It’s more of a last ditch effort to save the universe kind of ability. She can also turn into a slightly larger than person sized sun, known as the Core. This is what lays beneath the illusion of her body. In this form, she can control the radiation and heat radiating from her body, but if she loses her memory or power/mass or substance, she may not. She can also enlarge herself to the size of a real sun. She has in series completely incinerated people accidentally. As such, this form is very, very dangerous. In a more helpful manner she can manifest tiny suns, like little floating light bulbs, or sometimes use some of her solar energy to dissolve handcuffs, etc.  She can also shoot solar plasma out of her hands and dissolve you into nothing, but again, not unless you really, really piss her off. She usually leaves that stuff to mortals. People have killed her in series and she's gone on like nothing happened. She's hard to piss off. But scary if you manage it. Trance also has full control over her sun, should it ever appear in Medietas. As a star she has control over elements you would naturally associate with suns and stars, like gravity. In one episode she is able to link the consciousness of the crew in the same way as she would keep a planet in orbit. By the same effect she can also disrupt technology, and has control over her own electromagnetic field as a sun.

Note: Trance's sun is very big. She's a K type Orange dwarf star. In her absence artificial suns were put in place to maintain Seefra/Tarn Vedra. When Trance returns her sun makes these two stars look like insects.

Limitations in Medietas:  Obviously, no supernovas. Offensive abilities like solar plasma and energy to be worked out between players. Core: limited. Will not obviously endanger the islands or it's people without plot or player decisions.

Creation: Trance is connected to all living things, as partly responsible for  the creation of the universe. She's been seen treating species she knows nothing about. She views all living things as the same, from plants the people. They all have the same basic needs, it's just easier to manipulate people to do what you want. Plants don't talk much. She can also use her abilities as a Celestial Avatar to destroy and create living and nonliving things. As the embodiment of a sun, she has the effect of making plants grow like crazy.

Trance Gemini(as sun): I am the avatar of a sun, a star. All things come from the same thing, all from me. You are elements of the sun. As I make you, I am able to destroy you. As I destroy you, I am able to create.

Limitations in Medietas:  No destroying and remaking people without approval. No creating or destroying items/people/things that would break the game.

Mundane Abilities:

Trance  serves as medic and hydroponics officer on board the Andromeda as well as acting Fire Control and Arms Master when necessary. She also has a subdermal comm implant below her ear, that connects to Andromeda's communication systems and between the crew. Obviously this wont be working as they are no where near Andromeda.

Limitations in Medietas: Would she be able to hook her subdermal implant into the network?

What 4 items would you like your character to have with them on the island during their stay?
1. Her force lance. It acts as a quarter staff, baton energy blaster, grenade ad grappling hook. It's also keyed to it's owners DNA, and thus cannot be used against them. It contains a security charge, which electrocutes anyone else who tries to use it.
2. Her bonsai. She uses this as a focus to see and manipulate future events/universes. It's a focus for her power. Obviously this will be massively nerfed so she's not game breaking
3. The coin Dylan gave her.

Samples

First Person:
[Network turned, video revealing a woman with purple, glittery skin, a devil's tail flickering behind her.]

That was not very nice. If you wanted help, all you had to do was ask. You catch more flies with honey than you do with vinegar, you know. Not that I'm sure why you'd want to catch flies. They're quite nasty little creatures actually. Very dirty. Anyway! The kidnapping was not necessary. I'm actually really good at helping people! Beka calls me her lucky charm.  Or if you just wanted to talk.

Wait, am I here because of someone else that looked kind of like me? I can't be held responsible for their actions. That's just not FAIR.

[She had a an indignant look on her face that faded into a puzzled frown]

I give up. Why am I here?

Third Person:

(Log Sample 1)
Trance bit her lip, fingers shallowly digging into dirt and mulch. Her fingers contracted in the soil, tentatively marking spots, an inch or two deep, for small plants. She had a bunch of seedlings to plant, cast offs and clippings from plants already established here in the hydroponics garden, as well as new seedlings the crew had found or bartered for. She’d cared for them, watered and gently fertilized until they were tall enough, strong enough to withstand going into the soil directly.

Rachel was her first seedling. Strong and healthy looking, might need a little more sunlight and nourishment, which she could surely get here. Trance picked out a tiny spot which she had already marked with her fingers, especially for Rachel. Fingers swept and dug around the hole, enlarging it, digging deeper and finally packing the soil back lightly around the roots. Rachel, Sara, Fred and Jack all looked healthy. They just needed time to grow strong, tall. Everything deserved a chance to live. Except perhaps the weeds she spotted around Carl, Fred’s older sibling. Even weeds had the right to live, but, not at the expense of Carl. She liked Carl, and the weeds didn't belong here. Everything had its place. It was with a heavy heart that Trance reached over to gently pull up the weeds, rootball and all.

"Sorry," Trance apologized to the weeds.

Surveying her work, before attending to her last seeding, Trance picked up a small spray bottle, delicately misting the new seedlings.

“There you go.”

Her last seedling was Peter. Peter didn't look like he was doing so well. When had that happened? Disease and root rot caused the tiny little plant to fall almost limp into the soil, instead of stretching high into the sunlight. What could have caused this? Did they have some kind of bug or virus that Andromeda’s filters hadn't caught? ….Or had someone else been watering the plants?

Over the Andromeda’s intercom she heard the alarm and then Dylan’s voice. “Trance, prep Med deck!”
Trance shouted a replied back at the intercom “On my way!”

Quickly wiping the soil off her hands and scraping loose particles from underneath her fingernails, and putting Peter away for further medical inspection, Trance ran out of hydroponics and into the halls of the Andromeda, to med deck. What could have happened? She ran into the room, cleaning herself off and gathering supplies. Armed with nanobots, gel packs, fluids, and scanners, Trance waited for her arrivals.

Sample log from Ten Forward I have many many more if you want them.

Finally, out of the 4 words, pick one: Chimes, lake, gravel, or sun? Sun (hahahaha)
